Shelter is the ideal means for survival and containment for all family members enabling its residents to fulfill all their necessary needs to preserve life. It is also the primary source of protection against any imminent danger as it provides the sense of safety and protection for life and dignity. It also enhances the sense of self-confidence and ability to confront risks in times of calamities and crises.
The real danger lies in the crises or disasters that cause the demolition of homes, which deprives its residents of their first source of safety, as well as the ability to respond to the basic life requirements. Therefore, shelter is prioritized when intervening in times of crisis and disasters to preserve the life, safety and dignity of survivors.
